The E-WISEE platform is a resource full of educational materials and tools, dedicated to the topic of
sexuality and affectivity education, and is above all, the core and distinctive product of the E-WISEE project:
Europe Working for Inclusive Sex and Emotional Education. With the aim of verifying and validating the
quality of the contents, and to prevent potential bugs, the project partners launched a testing phase of the
platform: an opportunity to share reflections, observations and evaluations, and more generally to obtain
feedback on the technical, graphic and content aspects of the platform. Specifically, the Association
Arcipelago APS in Italy, involved for this action, the students of the Suor Orsola Benincasa-Naples, the
university research centre and the voluntary association Cantiere Giovani.

The first meeting, organised with the students of Suor Orsola Benincasa and in collaboration with the
University Research Centre, lasted one hour: after a short presentation of the EWISEE project, the
participants tested the different areas of the platform. During the test, the participants made comments and
asked some specific questions related to the arrangement of the contents in the glossary area, the choice of video testimonials and, more generally, the educational spirit of the E-WISEE project. They also tested the
technical aspects of the platform and its level of accessibility.

A second meeting was dedicated to the project’s associate partner Cantiere Giovani, a non-profit
organisation, which promotes initiatives at local, national and international level, with the aim of promoting
inclusion, participation, civic engagement and active citizenship of young people and citizens in general. Cantiere Giovani is a valuable ally, which contributed to the production of the materials for two sections of
the platform: the E-WISEE Lab and the Glossary.

Both meetings ended with the administration of an evaluation questionnaire: the comments that emerged
were very positive, and returned the image of a smart virtual environment, simple and intuitive to use, but
above all a useful tool for youth workers and their work with adolescents and young people. Positive
opinions were collected with respect to both the communicative effectiveness of the E-WISEE platform and
the educational quality of the content.

GENERAL TESTING RESULTS

The E-WISEE platform aims to increase the skills and knowledge of YWs on the topic of affectivity and sexuality education, to equip them with effective non-formal educational tools on the topic, and to create a European network of YWs who discuss methodologies and issues related to the topic of sexuality that arise in their work with young people.

The platform is divided into Areas, each of which has its own specific purpose:

  • E-WISEE _Wordlist is a common glossary of key words and competences;
  • E-WISEE _Events recounts activities, events, appointments related to the project topics taking place in the territories of the partner countries
  • E-WISEE – Lab collects multimedia materials to support the non-formal educational work of YWs on the topic of sexuality
  • Social area for interaction between European YWs

In order to verify the functioning of the platform and to make possible/related corrections, a test was administered involving European YWs representing organisations working with young people and/or public and private organisations involved in the project topics who navigated the platform, trying out all its functions, contents and giving an evaluation.

  • The indicators were the level of accessibility and enjoyment of the content of the platform areas; the instrument a semi-structured questionnaire on Google forms.
  • There were 27 respondents and most of them were women with master’s degrees.
  • They tested the platform in June, July and August 2024.
  • They said that the materials are easily downloadable and available in different multimedia formats: it is easy to navigate between the various sections of the platform. Thanks to its social function, it is the ideal place for access by numerous stakeholders.
  • The E-Wisee platform is a useful tool for trainers and educators in the field, it provides tools and approaches to the topic of sexuality. The activities described are evaluated as effective and easily modulated according to the needs of the group involved.

One interviewee declared:

“I could use it in all areas of my work, to perhaps create labs with children and/or young people and educate and/or listen to them”.

Thanks to the Glossary, it is possible to explore new terms and make correct use of terminology.

In summary, there can be several uses for the Ewisee platform:

“As an adult facilitator and educator, I have found several potential uses for the Ewisee platform: finding educational resources to integrate into my practice and finding valuable content and case studies that can be used to develop or improve my curriculum, particularly in the areas related to emotional and sexuality education. In general, to educate myself more on the topic of sexual and emotional education”.

Some suggested:

from a graphical point of view:

  • expand the home icon for mobile
  • improve the video positioning of the pills (in the mobile version the video scrolls too low)
  • insert hyperlinks between sections
  • on the E-WISEE lab page after clicking on one of the entries (in small rectangles) large white rectangles of different sizes appear, leading to unevenness
  • a little more efficient navigation (perhaps ‘return’ buttons – especially for those using it via smartphones)
  • the platform is not accessible from safari but works well from chrome

in terms of content:

  • include more material in different multimedia forms
  • add further content
  • expand the glossary
  • translate into more languages
  • sign language videos for deaf and hard of hearing users

As a strategy, it is suggested to move the pill videos to a social channel, such as informative, that can link it back to the platform and to promote it on international networks/hubs/repositories so that more people can use it.

Also, During the platform testing period of the E-WISEE Project, Cyclisis shared the information regarding the creation of the platform with several related organisations to the topics mentioned and developed in the platform content. Cyclisis contacted public and private entities related to youth education, psychological support, and empowerment. In addition, multiple schools and teachers were approached for this cause. Cyclisis provided individually the platform test questionnaire to those interested in contributing and in turn, they recorded their thoughts, comments, and suggestions for improving and upgrading both functionality and content.

The E-WISEE platform is a valuable resource for trainers and educators in sexuality education. It offers tools and approaches that are effective and adaptable to different group needs. With ongoing enhancements, it promises to be an even more robust tool for YWs across Europe.

GREECE WORKSHOPS

Cyclisis, Greece partner, developed 3 workshops based on the World Café methodology in order to create a collaborative and inclusive dialogue. Through key questions, participants are invited to engage in an attempt to creative thinking and processing of new ideas that will emerge from the discussion.

During the first workshop, it was discussed in general about the participants’ predictions about the workshops to follow and what terms they think an experiential glossary should include. After discussing with youth workers, they moved on to the second part of the workshop which was around sex and gender. Through video and discussion, reflection and conclusions, they were able to define some words that we encounter in our daily lives!

Images First Workshop

For the second workshop they started by doing a “survey” of what the participants thought inclusive and emotional education meant. After laying the groundwork there, they continued by analyzing – and using their personal experience – to explain the age factor and how our hormones are affected by it, questioning and exploring sexuality in general. Finally, they talked about the LGBTQIA+ community and its flags and familiarised themselves with the terminology of the community.

Images Second Workshop

For the third and final workshop, they dealt with abusive behaviors, gender-based violence, and rights violations. It was defined some behaviors and talked about personal experiences. But how do they, as youth workers, dealt with it? And that’s where they started to give solutions for inclusive behavior, inclusive education, accessible by all and for all!!!

Three workshops. 100% success!
