Gender-Based Violence

Any act that is perpetrated against a person’s will and is directed at an individual based on their sex assigned at birth and/or gender identity and is based on gender norms and/or unequal power relationships. It encompasses threats of violence and coercion and can include verbal, physical, sexual, emotional, economic, and/or psychological abuse, threats, and coercion, whether occurring in public or private life, and can take the form of a denial of resources or access to services.
